About us

Who we are

Students for AI Literacy at UofT is a student-led organization focused on improving the undergraduate learning experience through responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence. We promote AI literacy while exploring how AI can support academic achievement, organization, career development, and student well-being.

Our mission

Closing the gap between students and AI

SAIL@UofT empowers students with the knowledge and resources required to integrate AI tools effectively into their academic and professional lives. Through practical education, interdisciplinary collaboration, critical discussion, and strategic partnerships, we work to reduce the gap between students and rapidly developing AI technology.

Our values

How we operate

  • Critical thinking first. We treat AI as a tool to be understood — including its limitations — not hype to be repeated.
  • Responsible use. We promote uses of AI that respect academic integrity and course policies.
  • Interdisciplinary by design. AI affects every field, so every field belongs in the conversation.
  • Evidence over anecdotes. We use student feedback and evidence to shape our programming.

Who it's for

Every student, every program

SAIL is for UofT students from all disciplines — humanities, life sciences, engineering, commerce, social sciences, and everything in between. If AI touches your studies or your future career (it does), SAIL is for you.

No coding experience required. Our programming is designed to be valuable whether you've never opened a chatbot or you build models for fun.
